But wait, there's more!
Basic pages are the most versatile page type and form the foundation of your entire site. What makes them so versatile is that you can include page elements from other pages or web sites on the page. For example, you can take one of your Photo Album slide shows and have it display on a basic page. You could also include your Contact page on this same Basic page to create an even more interesting and interactive page. The combinations are plenty so mix it up a bit!

Welcome to a Welcome (basic) page!
This is an example of a Basic page and is used as a Welcome or Home page. Here you can describe what your site is about, what your company does or sells, your latest and greatest invention, whatever. This is probably the first page your visitors will see so think carefully about how you want to present yourself, your company or your organization. In life, you only get one first impression. This is just as true on the world wide web.
Make it interesting!
Interesting = good. Boring = not good. Now that we that out of the way lets get on with it. As mentioned above your Welcome or Home page is probably the first page people see when they come to your site. Make it interesting by adding things like photos, a calendar of events, links to other, complimentary sites, and other graphic elements like the shapes show below and to the right. Be careful though, not to make your Welcome, or any other pages for that matter, too busy. Gimmicky animation and other overly flashy content can and usually will divert your visitors attention from what you intended. Often times less is more in this regard. Google is a perfect example and we think they've been pretty successful.
Keep it fresh!
Nothing says boring like a stale, unchanging Welcome page. You need to change things up a bit from time to time to keep your visitors and customers coming back. We're not talking a total site redesign but perhaps changing the content a little here and there. A bonus of using DirtyDogDesings and our template based designs is that when you do want to create a whole new look for your site, we can do that for you fairly quickly and economically. We won't break your bank when you decide red is hip and that blue is just so yesterday.
